  • What: A community needs assessment and connection test

  • Who: 16 students, community members, parents, educators, and youth service providers attended

  • How: Three tables were set up with different prompting questions and paper to record major points, attendees switched tables every 15 minutes

  • Outcomes: 

    • 93% of attendees rated the net promoter score a 9 or 10

    • 87% stated that they felt more connected to their community after this event

    • Attendees used words like fun, engaging, joy, authenticity, uplifting, and community to describe their experience

    • 100% of attendees wanted to stay connected to Joy as Resistance

How it impacted design: Discovered severe lack of services in Aurora, need for brick and mortar space there established
